Department of Biochemistry, SBS

The School of Biological Sciences has the finest infrastructure facilities in Asia for research in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering and this is currently being used by a number of Research Scholars.

Department of Biochemistry has research laboratories in two units:

1. Eukaryotic molecular cardiology unit [in Biochemistry/Molecular biology      building

2. Cancer biology unit [Additional Biology building].

1) CO2 incubators.
2) Real time PCR.
3) PCR with gradient.
4) Table top refrigerated centrifuges & High speed centrifuges – floor model.
5) Electrocardiogram for animals.
6) Fluorescence microscopes.
7) Microplate readers.
8) 2- Dimensional electrophoresis system.
9) Wet/Immuno blotting system & Hybridization oven.
10)Gel documentation system.
11)Spectrophotometer.
12)Ultra pure Water system.

Apart from the instrumental facilities, department has the facilities for plant and animal tissue culture labs and animal house which majorly contribute in research activities.
